Geoarchaeological studies in the area of the Etruscan settlement of Monte Bisenzio (Viterbo)
After the first three years of research, a new agreement between ISPRA and the Department of Prehistory of the Römisch-Germanisches Zentralmuseum (Meinz) has been activated in January 2022 and will continue until the end of 2023.
The new researches have foreseen the realization of drilling cores in the area of the ancient settlement of the Villanovan-Etruscan age (photo) which will allow, through the study of core samples, laboratory analyses and sedimentological analyses, the reconstruction of the paleoenvironmental evolution of the territory of Bolsena Lake in ancient times.
