The 5/2021 issue of Geonews opens with an interview to Maria Siclari, the first woman in history to lead the Geological Survey of Italy. Her previous experiences, especially at INGV and in Civil Protection, the awareness of the importance of the knowledge of Earth Sciences in Italy, of Geology in particular, are the prerequisites of her commitment to increase and enhance more and more the central role of an Institution that deals with issues essential for the development of our country. And then an interesting article of the effects of the 2016 earthquake on the flow rates of some water sources in Central Italy and an example of application of INSPIRE standards for the harmonisation of the Geological Map of Italy at 1:100,000 scale.
