EO4GEO Training action “Landslide affecting Cultural Heritage sites - Roman Thermae of Baia”

ISPRA (Department for the Geological Survey of Italy), together with Parco Archeologico dei Campi Flegrei and INGV-Osservatorio Vesuviano, launch the MOOC “Landslide affecting Cultural Heritage sites - Roman Thermae of Baia”, dealing with Cultural Heritage conservation through satellite monitoring. The Course is part of the EO4GEO Project, focusing on innovative solutions for Earth Observation/Geographic Information training.

The case study of ground instability at the Roman Thermae of Baia offers a learning path for a simple methodology to exploit ground instability maps, obtained by satellite radar interferometry (InSAR). The Integrated Application makes use of Copernicus EO data and services to assess the landslide risk. The Persistent Scatterers processing allows to perform ground displacement analysis focused on the detection of historical and recent landslides, thus helping technicians and site managers to properly address mitigation actions for the best conservation of Cultural Heritage.

To complete this use case Training Action, after a free registration on the training platform, individually follow the learning path, and perform the tests about thematic modules. At the end of the tests, a Certificate of Attendance will be issued.
