Course on Geoarchaeology in professional practice

The next 22nd of October will start the  course on Geoarchaeology in professional practice, aimed at geologistsstudents, graduates, professionals and public employees. The course targets who is interested in reconstructing the geomorphological aspects of the territories on which the civilizations of the past have settled, or which are the reasons of their disappearance (earthquakes , landslides, floods etc.); but also to who is interested to discover the falsifications of the archaeological Heritage or, on the contrary, to the authentication of supposed false.

The course will also address issues such as the determination of geological risk especially with regard to the conservation and use of Archaeological Heritage; the "preventive geoarchaeology" to be added to the "preventive archeology", the enhancement and integrated management of cultural heritage including material culture, research and work that involves geologists, archaeologists, economists.

The course will start from the climatic modifications of the past and their influence on the populations concerned, will analyze the archaeometric study of mortars, ancient plaster and will address the determination of the false in archeology, the deposition environments, the geomorphology applied to archaeological research, the catastrophic events of the past and their consequences.

Theorganizers are the Italian Society of Environmental Geology (SIGEA) and the National Council of Geologists, ISPRA will participate as a speaker.
