The collaboration between ISPRA and the Chinese Geological Service has been renewed to face the new global challenges in the geological and environmental fields

The collaboration, which began in 2013, specifically concerns 2 bilateral cooperation projects lasting 3 years in the field of active tectonics and hydrogeology.

The active tectonics project was carried out with the geohazard center in Chengdu. It was a comparative study on test areas in China and Italy affected by medium-high seismic hazard The second project concerned hydrogeology, was implemented together with the Shijiazhuang Hydrogeology Institute and had the main objective of sharing a methodology common for hydrogeological surveying and to define standard guidelines for cartography at the scale of 1: 50,000.
The new agreement will have a duration of 5 years and will allow to consolidate cooperation activities on active tectonics and hydrogeology but also to respond to the new global challenges in the geological and environmental fields, exploring new fields of cooperation, such as georesources. , with specific reference to geothermal energy and critical raw materials.
