CARG project: 16 new geological sheets funded in 2020

The law n. 160 of 27 December 2019 (Art.1, c.103,104,105 and 106) assigned to the Higher Institute for Environmental Protection and Research (ISPRA) a contribution of 5 million euros for each of the years 2020, 2021 and 2022 for the completion of the official Geological Map of Italy at a scale of 1: 50,000, its computerization and instrumental activities. The law assigned to ISPRA tin particular to the Department for the Geological Survey  of Italy the role of coordinator of the activities aimed at completing the Geological Map of Italy. More over the law identifies the Regions and autonomous Provinces of Trento and Bolzano, the institutes and university departments and the National Research Council (CNR) such as the public body with which ISPRA will have to collaborate to this end.

12 regions have participated and 31 proposals have been presented.  The proposals were assessed by a specific Commission, established within the CARG and Geothematic Maps  Board, which assigned a score to each of the proposed Sheets, according to the criteria established by it. At the end of the screening, it was decided by ISPRA, in agreement with the Governing Council of the State-Regions Coordination Committee, to grant to all of the 12 Regions at least one Geological Sheet per Region chosen on the basis of the scores reported in the ranking defined by the Commission.

The following table indicates the sheets admitted to the 2020 financing.
